Milled maize is used in extruded snacks and for batters and coatings. The application is determined by granularity from coarse grits to polenta and fine flour. All our maize is imported from non-GMO varieties from partner co-operatives in France. This is operated within a unique Identity Preserved scheme to ensure known origin and full traceability.

Diverse applications include extruded snacks, industrial batters and mixes, bakery inclusions or toppings and nutritional products. Typically, coarse grits are used for breakfast cereals and snack products, medium grits (polenta) is used in snacks and toppings and maize flour in bakery mixes.

The maize mill is situated at the Worksop site.

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO)

Customers in the EU have made it clear that they do not want Genetically Modified (GM) products. GM foods can only be authorised in the European Union if they have passed a rigorous safety assessment. We will only consider using genetically modified maize if we are convinced of its safety in terms of the consumer and the environment and its public acceptability. We will continue to monitor developments in this area through our membership of Euromaisiers.

Euromaisiers is the representative organisation for the European dry maize milling sector.
