Smiths Flour Mills is a long established business and one of the largest independent flour millers in the UK. We employ 150 highly-trained staff across our three sites, which are located at Worksop and Langley Mill in Nottinghamshire and Holbeach in Lincolnshire.

Food Safety Accreditation

All three sites are approved to the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety and have achieved Grade A status and our animal feed products comply with the Feed Materials Assurance Scheme.

We take our responsibility for food safety and allergens very seriously. All our production staff undertake HACCP training to control food safety and attend awareness training for a number of topics including allergens. Nuts are banned from all our sites and our products are free from nuts.

Quality Management System Accreditation

The Company’s Quality Management System has been approved to ISO9001:2008. We are independently audited and undertake a programme of internal audits throughout the year to ensure compliance to standards.

Product Assurance

We will only use grain that has been grown and stored to a predetermined high standard and has full traceability back to source. To maintain the traceability of UK grain, we only purchase from merchants that are accredited under the Trade Assurance Scheme for Combinable Crops. All our Maize is sourced from France, specified non-GMO, and is supplied under a Maize Identity Preserved Scheme. Our Rice is specified non-GMO from named varieties and traceable to its country of origin.

We recognise that people are our greatest asset and we are committed to providing a safe working environment where everyone understands their responsibility and are empowered to make decisions to prevent accidents from occurring. We encourage vocational training and undertake regular awareness courses on a number of topics. We are fortunate to have a wealth of experience and a diverse skill set to cover the multitude of roles within the Company. We are pleased that a number of staff have successfully completed NABIM Correspondence courses and we continue to have a strong uptake each year.
